Leah had her birthday on Friday. She turned two. She liked helping make her cake, even though she didn't eat much of it.
Victoria gave her an ABC puzzle that talks and her mommy and daddy gave her a puppy. She was pretty happy with both presents and has had lots of fun playing with them the past few days.
I guess the fun of getting haircuts and having everyone tell you how cute it is got to Victoria's head. Tonight I sent her into the house to go potty while we were outside playing. She didn't come back outside. I went inside and found a pile of hair in the bathroom and no Victoria. Needless to say the pile of hair concerned me, and I started searching for Victoria. When she finally emerged, I was relieved that it wasn't toooo bad... I guess we all have to go through some things. I remember trying to trim my bangs and how I couldn't get them straight, so they kept getting shorter and shorter and shorter, until I was really embarrassed. Oh well, I'm glad hair grows back. When I asked her why she did it, she said, "I thought it would make me cuter."
It has been a while, but I decided that I'd better post some pictures of the first and probably last time I took the girls to get their hair cut at a kid's hair cutting place. It was fun for them, but expensive for me, and I still had my sister fix their cuts a couple weeks later. I do really like Leah's hair cut. It makes her look older, but it fits her face so well. I like Victoria's too, but you couldn't really tell she'd gotten her hair cut.
The past 1 1/2 months has been so fun! Diana and Lewis lived next door to us and we played every day! We miss them so much now. It's so quiet with only 2 girls running around instead of 6.
I really hate spiders and things similar to spiders, so when I picked up my shoe tonight and something BIG and LEGGY crawled out, I screamed. It was just a house centipede, but wow, it grossed me out. Yuck! After finding out that it eats spiders I decided to let it go, but not back in my shoe and not in the house! I can only imagine the horror dreams Leah would have after having something like that crawl on her, she already wakes up screaming about things like "BUGS!" and "MONEY!" and "MEW!" and "PUPPY!" Now I will attempt to resettle my heart and go to bed, hopefully I won't have any dreams.
Victoria has been a great big sister lately. You can't really tell it here, but Leah had been screaming and Victoria wanted to help her by reading her a story.
We've had some beautiful sunny days lately so we've enjoyed spending a lot of time outside.
Leah has a hard time slowing down and taking bites. She tried her first kiwi and stuffed the entire thing in her mouth, I couldn't resist taking a picture.
Along with the sunny days we had a nice little snowy day. We had a lot of fun playing outside for a little while before it all melted.
Daddy, Leah, and Victoria have a lot of fun playing together. It's funny to watch them in our little IKEA tent.
That's pretty much all we're up to. Stoyan continues to be busy, busy, busy and I think I need a spring break from his school. Thank goodness we're heading to Kanosh tomorrow. It couldn't come at a better time.
Last weekend we got "spring fever" and left the warm weather and sunshine of SLC and drove five hours to Boulder, Utah for Cora's baby blessing. It was so beautiful there, I was actually sad that we didn't have the snow they did. I also can't believe I didn't take more pictures, but we were in a rush to get packed and over the mountain before the next snow storm. The trip was worth every minute! Thank you Caroline for everything!
I snapped these two pictures as we were rushing in to the house to gather our things. This pile of snow was right in front of the door. Ray had pushed the snow off the roof and didn't want to move the pile he made, so he just carved a hole. I thought it was pretty awesome.
I am a great mom! How does that saying go? "A good mom lets you lick the beaters, but a great mom turns them off first." or something like that,(I have no idea who said it first) anyway, I turned them off.
I'm only posting now because I'm tired of looking at gingerbread houses every time I start up the internet. There isn't really anything new or worth posting, but here are a few pictures from the past week.
15 minutes wandering around our yard and using the neighbors' swing.
A sock doll we made, it's stuffed with beans and boy did that sock streeeeetchhh a lot more than I thought it would. You can see this baby is really full of beans, and a little blue about it. A drawing done by Victoria on a white board. It was too great to erase without taking a picture first. A family picture (from left to right) Leah, Victoria, Daddy and Mommy.
Daddy turned old! But not really, just old compared to a three year old.
20 January 2010
Since I said I would post some more pictures of the gingerbread house party we had, here I finally am doing it. Obviously we didn't all have a lot of time to finish them completely but it was fun. Because this was so long ago, I'm only posting two pictures. As for other happenings since I last posted... well it has been so long I don't know what to say. Christmas was great for us. We had some pretty kind friends/neighbors and family members that blessed us so much, many of whom chose to remain anonymous. I hope you all know that it was really appreciated! We loved trying to catch people at the door, but never succeeding. After Christmas, Victoria turned 3 years old. She had been looking forward to her birthday for SO long. She wanted a butterfly cake, I attempted to make one, but didn't start preparing early enough and it wasn't that great looking. The good thing is that she and the other kids didn't really care if it didn't look all that amazing. Victoria's birthday is always hard for me because it falls so close to Christmas that I don't usually have a lot of time to think about it, let alone prepare a great cake. Victoria also started to attend primary. Just as she became a Sunbeam, I was released as primary president in our ward. We had both been pretty excited that we would be in primary together, but I guess it is what it is. I felt pretty sad about being released for a while, but I am getting used to the idea. I definitely loved my calling, and more so I love the children and the people I served with in our ward. It is also hard getting used to sitting so much during church. Hopefully another calling will soon come so I don't feel crazy and lazy. While we were visiting Kanosh over Christmas break, I saw a minute or two of a television show where some lady was saying that every mom needs a space where she can go, just for her. I thought that sounded like a good reason to rearrange the furniture, so I came home and rearranged our living room again (this makes 5 times in the last year). I really enjoy the changes. "My place to go" is in a corner and is full of junk cause I can't figure out how to organize all my craft/scrapbook/paper/sewing stuff without spending too much money...or preferably none at all. But hopefully soon it will be a good place for me to go, as of now it's a little overwhelming. What was that lady thinking when she said I needed a spot for myself?!
Stoyan started school again. It's his last semester before he has a bachelor's degree in art. Where to go from there? We shall see. He is working at IBI and has been having more hours lately than before, so we are glad for that. Hopefully it will keep up.
Leah has decided she likes to scream, she screams when she's mad, sad, or just for fun when she's happy. It is really loud and sometimes I think I need to invest in some earplugs. She's pretty cute though, and we love her. She has finally figured out some sign language and so that is helping with the screaming problem for some things.
There! All you people that have told me I need to update my blog- It's updated. Now I guess I'll go work on my "spot."
